Position Overview
The Department of Physiology & Cell Biology at the University of South Alabama Whiddon College of Medicine and the USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute are jointly seeking to fill a research-intensive, tenure-accruing associate professor/professor position. The candidate will integrate into existing cancer and lung biology programs within the USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute and Center for Lung Biology, respectively.
Responsibilities and Qualifications- Competitive applicants must hold an M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree, have postdoctoral fellowship experience, and demonstrate an aptitude for competing for extramural grant support.
- M.D. candidates are expected to be board‑certified pulmonary and critical care physicians.
- Both M.D. and Ph.D. candidates will contribute to the college’s graduate and medical education mission.
- Applicants should be able to collaborate effectively with basic and clinical researchers and possess exceptional written and oral communication skills.
The position comes with a competitive start‑up package and will also receive an annual disbursement from the Danley‑Aldridge Research Endowment fund to support the candidate’s research program.
