Long-Term Substitute Social Skills Teacher
Position LocationSouthwest West Central Service Cooperative (SWWC), with placement at our Educational Learning Center in Marshall, MN.
Position SummaryThe Social Skills Teacher provides academic and social‑emotional learning instruction throughout the school day, giving students the opportunity to learn and practice SEL skills along with academics. Directly teach social and emotional skills, emotion regulation strategies, and conflict resolution skills to individual students and small groups.
Major Responsibilities and Duties- Directly teach social and emotional skills, emotion regulation strategies, and conflict resolution skills to individual students and small groups.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to understand student needs, identify appropriate interventions, and modify curriculum for students as needed.
- Gather and analyze data to monitor student progress toward goals.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and stay current with SEL research and best practices to be implemented in the classroom.
- Apply principles of human development, learning, and behavior to functionally assess students’ social‑emotional and behavioral needs.
- Contact the family to gather helpful information and provide support.
- Participate in conferences and staff meetings with parents, teachers, administrators, area professionals, and children.
- Adhere to all due process procedures and compliance requirements.
- Provide good public relations and customer service with member districts, staff, parents and the general public.
- Follow all policies and regulations.
- Maintain regular and prompt attendance and perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree required with a preference for a background in teaching social skills or social emotional. Valid driver's license.
Contract / SalaryLong‑term substitute position beginning at the end of September for about four months. Bachelor's salary ranges from $54,477 to $74,870. Master's salary ranges from $64,965 to $96,796. All amounts dependent on education, qualifications, abilities, and experience.
