MAEF Public Charter Schools (MPCS), Mobile, Alabama.
Reports to:
Principal.
Salary: $55,000 per year (202 days), with additional compensation based on years of experience and degree level, and performance incentives based on academic performance.
Position OverviewACCEL Academy is a forward‑thinking, progressive community seeking effective classroom teachers who continually learn and set high expectations. The ideal candidate will show genuine concern for students and subject matter, resilience, growth mindset, adaptability, and passion. We aim to develop a community of practice where teachers play a vital role in designing curriculum and instructional strategies.
Essential Functions- Develop lesson plans that meet state standards and additional grade‑by‑grade standards.
- Coordinate lesson plans with other teachers to reinforce student knowledge across disciplines.
- Provide direct and indirect instruction.
- Conduct long‑ and short‑term planning addressing individual student needs.
- Prepare students for required assessments.
- Evaluate student progress through frequent formative assessments.
- Create an engaging, innovative learning environment.
- Maintain effective classroom management.
- Report directly to the Principal.
- Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from administration.
- Serve as an academic and behavioral advisor to students.
- Perform additional duties as directed by the Principal.
- Model correct use of language, oral and written.
- Engage the interest of school‑age children.
- Work with diverse children, including those with special needs.
- Be flexible and work cooperatively.
- Collaborate effectively with parents.
- Work well within a team.
- Evaluate tests and measurements of achievement.
- Maintain professionalism and discretion.
- Demonstrate accountability for student results.
- Bachelor’s degree from a 4‑year accredited college or university.
- Valid teaching certification in middle and high school in the relevant field, or a license required for the content area.
- Expertise in the subject matter and/or direct subject‑area teaching experience.
Eleven (11) month, 202 days contract with a salary established by the Board in accordance with Administrative Provisions and based on experience and qualifications.
SalaryBeginning Salary: $55,000.00 a year. Additional salary is based on years of experience and degrees.
