General FunctionResponsible for greeting and welcoming guests with a professional attitude. The primary duties of this position focus on intake and processing new and returning ABE and Career Pathway students.

- Answer questions posed by prospective students
- Performing receptionist duties
- Assisting with monitoring registrations, canceling classes and maintaining waiting lists
- Scanning, routing and filing of documents and materials
- Compiling data and processing reports as directed
- Ability to work in high traffic area
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to work effectively with frequent interruptions
- Ability to understand and apply complex rules and policies
- Knowledge of and ability to use positive problem-solving skills
- Competency with Microsoft Office and/or other office software, computer experience and internet use
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of any information regarding students, staff and all job-related matters
- Maintain a list of orientation dates and make the list available to prospective students.
- Maintain a list of learners as they sign up to attend an orientation.
- Assist new and returning students with enrollment into Coursestorm
- Check database to ascertain whether individual has previously attended ABE classes
- Opening/providing access to building for classes, students and staff
- Continually Assesses and Monitors Learning.
- Greeting and assisting building visitors, students, families and staff
- Providing support to the director and supervisor relating to goals and objectives; keeping them informed of pertinent information as needed
- Composing, preparing and distributing brochures, letters, memoranda, reports, electronic and public relations materials
- Maintaining schedule of appointments
- Assisting with High School Diploma Option student registration.
- Maintaining and processing confidential files
- Attending meetings, taking notes and keeping records as required
- Excellent oral, auditory, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Maintains a high level of competence and expertise in the area of Adult Education.
- Maintaining knowledge of multiple programs and guidelines
- Participate in professional development activities including the annual summer conference.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, other employees and the public.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Demonstrates effective people skills, communication skills, and work ethic (i.e., prepared, well-groomed, punctual).
- Participate in the recruitment of new students.
- Coordinates with AE and other College personnel on the College’s Adult Education graduation ceremony.
- Perform duties at alternate sites within the College’s Adult Education Service area when needed.
- Perform duties related to program orientation sessions including assessment and class assignments.
- Assumes other work related responsibilities as assigned by the Adult Basic Education Director, Dean of Workforce and Economic Development, Executive Vice President, and/or the President.
Salary: ACCS Salary Schedule- E3-03 ($47,029-$65,218). Continued employment is contingent upon funding from the grant and is on a non-tenured track.
Minimum Qualifications- Associate degree (required)
- One (1) year of experience in higher education setting
- Experience with the Alabama Adult Education System for Accountability and Performance (AAESAP) data management system.
- Experience with Digital Recognition Cooperation Test of Adult Basic Education (DRC TABE) testing software.
