Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Theatre​/Design & Technical Production

The University of South Alabama Department of Theatre & Dance invites applications for a full-time (nine-month), tenure-track Assistant Professor of Theatre position specializing in Technical Design and Production
, beginning August 15, 2027. We seek a dynamic artist-educator with primary expertise in scenic design, lighting design, or a closely related area of technical theatre. We seek an individual who is excited to expand their skills within a collaborative, growing Theatre and Dance department. An earned terminal degree in Theatre (M.F.A or Ph.D. in a closely related field) is required for this tenure-track appointment.

M.F.A. applicants near completion of their degree or ABDs currently near the completion of their degree are welcome to apply, but an earned M.F.A. or Ph.D. is required at the time of appointment.

Applicants should have experience in one or more of the following areas: scenic design, lighting design, or technical production at the collegiate, secondary, and/or professional levels. Evidence of effective teaching in theatre in your field of expertise and commitment to equitable and inclusive pedagogical practices that support learners of all backgrounds. Candidates who demonstrate versatility, collaborative spirit, and interest in cross-disciplinary growth are strongly encouraged to apply.
