Job SummaryThe Process Piping Designer supports the planning, design, and development of piping systems for industrial and manufacturing facilities. This role is responsible for producing detailed piping layouts and design deliverables in close coordination with engineers, designers, and cross‑functional project teams to ensure piping systems are safe, constructible, and compliant with applicable codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed process piping layouts, routing studies, and installation details
- Develop and modify 3D models, piping plans, sections, and design details for industrial piping systems
- Produce and check Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) in coordination with process engineers
- Develop piping isometrics, spool drawings, and material take‑offs (MTOs)
- Apply applicable codes, standards, and specifications, including ASME B31.3
- Coordinate piping design with process, mechanical, structural, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines
- Assist with equipment layout optimization to support efficient piping routing and constructability
- Support stress, flexibility, and constructability reviews in coordination with engineering staff
- Interpret vendor drawings, specifications, and data sheets for incorporation into design documents
- Participate in interdisciplinary reviews, 3D model audits, and design checks
- Support field walk‑downs, as‑built documentation, and resolution of construction issues
- Maintain drawing standards, quality procedures, and project documentation controls
- Provide piping design support for proposal development and estimating activities as required
- Proven experience in process or industrial piping design
- Strong working knowledge of piping layouts, isometrics, and P&IDs
- Experience applying piping codes and standards, including ASME B31.3
- Ability to coordinate design efforts across multiple engineering disciplines
- Proficiency in 3D modeling and piping design software
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and design standards
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, vendor data, and construction drawings
