2026 Thompson Engineering Summer Collegiate Internship Program
Program Overview
The 2026 Thompson Engineering Summer Collegiate Internship Program offers students the opportunity to gain meaningful, practical experience across a variety of disciplines. Interns work alongside experienced professionals on active projects, gaining exposure to both office-based and field-based work depending on their area of interest.
Internship opportunities are available in the following focus areas:
* Civil Engineering
* Environmental Engineering & Sciences
* Transportation Engineering
* Architectural & Building Sciences
* Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI)
* Field Services & Materials Testing
* Program & Project Management
What You'll Do
Responsibilities will vary by discipline and assignment, but may include:
* Assisting with engineering design, analysis, and technical documentation
* Supporting field inspections, data collection, sampling, and testing activities
* Assisting with construction observation, CEI reporting, and quality control documentation
* Preparing reports, plans, exhibits, and project deliverables
* Supporting project managers with scheduling, coordination, and administrative tasks
* Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on real client projects
* Learning industry standards, safety practices, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications
* Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
* Pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Transportation, Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field
* Completed at least one year of undergraduate coursework by Summer 2026 (preferred)
* Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
* Willingness to work in both office and field environments, as applicable
* Valid driver's license (for field-based positions)
