Job Title: Avionics Technician-Ground Test Inspector (GTI)

Will be responsible for the planning, execution and validation of Ground Tests in the Final Assembly Line. This includes the demonstration of conformity within aircraft systems to the design specifications through attestation in the Airbus Test System (ESAO). Initiate actions to isolate, document and eliminate any deviations detected.

Airbus is an authorized DoD Skill Bridge partner (per DoDI 1322.29). This 180-day program allows transitioning service members to leverage their military technical expertise in a high-precision aerospace environment.

• Active-duty service member within 180 days of separation.
• Written Commander (O-4 or above) authorization.
• Must have current work authorization for U.S. positions.

The team at the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing facilities helps assemble the finest aircraft in the world, with three production lines for the A220 and A320 Family. You will work with colleagues who are passionate about aviation and skilled in electrical, structure and quality.

• Mobile, AL — U.S. Assembly Facility
• On "Airbus Way" you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft.
• The facility opened in 2015 and produces A320 Family aircraft, with a second product line for the A220 added in 2019.

• Perform Ground Tests:
  Prepare the aircraft and workstation for ground tests on various avionics and electrical systems in a safe environment.
• Perform function tests on all systems in parallel with the aircraft assembly from start to Flight Testing.
• Document non-conformities in the SAP NC system and initiate retests after rework.
• Collaborate with Ground Test Design, Engineering, Quality and Shop Floor departments.

• Troubleshoot test systems and aircraft systems.
• Prepare and coordinate troubleshooting and classify error types.
• Collaborate with engineering to clarify problems.
• Ensure safety of people and the aircraft throughout the process until test closure.
• Execute ground tests following released documents and work orders, based on quality, cost and time.
• Record measured values inside released documents as required.

• Identify problems to continuously improve the production process.
• Perform and check operational tests and attest conformity per released documentation (GTIs, RTIs, Retest Sheets, WO).
• Upload software on/off aircraft if needed and access installed software.
• Extract electrical schematics for troubleshooting and conduct tests to identify root causes.
• Launch Practical Problem Solving (PPS) for continuous improvements.
• Root cause analysis for non-conforming test results; investigate tool or equipment failures or installation discrepancies.
• Declare and follow up on non-conformities for rework or certification according to procedures.

• High School Diploma/GED
• Ability to successfully complete trainings provided by Airbus

• Training from a vocational school or previous employer in the use of application tools and techniques.

• 2 years minimum experience as an Aircraft Avionics Technician with a focus on aircraft systems (electrical preferred).
• 2 years minimum experience in troubleshooting on aircraft systems.

• Experience as a Quality Inspector on avionics systems.

• Knowledge of station safety, quality (clean as you go / Foreign Object Debris) and OSHA regulations.
• Keep tools and support equipment in safe operational conditions at all times.

• Vision, hearing, speaking abilities suitable for office and shop floor environments.
• Ability to operate a wide range of equipment and work at heights up to 40 feet.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform various movements as required in the role.

• Skill Bridge participants continue to receive military pay and benefits from the DoD. No salary or financial compensation is provided by Airbus during the program.
