Fire Alarm Designer
The Fire Alarm Designer will support a multidisciplinary consulting engineering team by designing, documenting, and coordinating fire alarm and life safety systems for a variety of commercial, industrial, institutional, and government facilities. This role focuses on translating code requirements and engineering direction into clear, constructible fire alarm system design documents.
Skills and Requirements- 5+ years of experience designing fire alarm systems in a consulting engineering or design-build environment.
- Strong working knowledge of fire alarm and life safety codes (NFPA 72, IBC, IFC).
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit in a production design environment.
- Experience preparing permit‑ready fire alarm drawings and documentation.
- Ability to interpret architectural and MEP drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. NICET certification (Fire Alarm Systems – Level II or higher).
- Experience supporting healthcare, higher education, industrial, federal, or mission‑critical facilities.
- Familiarity with fire alarm system manufacturers (e.g., Siemens, Honeywell, Simplex, Edwards, Notifier).
- Experience coordinating with AHJs and supporting permit reviews.
