Job Description

The Environmental Manager will be an essential part of the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility, providing daily guidance for all aspects of environmental compliance (air, water, waste) and continual improvement (ISO 14001) for the site. The position reports to the Sustainability Manager of the Mobile Manufacturing Facility within the Operational Excellence and Performance Management Organization.

Our Engineers take our aircraft from concept to customer delivery – working with production teams on every aspect of assembly from managing technical information, quality control, maintenance tasks and health & safety along flowlines and flight lines. Your Working Environment

On "Airbus Way" you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019.

Your Challenges
  • Leads daily management and improvement of the site Sustainability & Environmental Program within ISO 14001:2015 to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Ensures the site is ready for annual ISO 14001:2015 internal and external certification audits and coordinates audit follow‑up actions.
  • Implements and monitors environmental strategies and action plans.
  • Maintains all applicable local, state and federal regulatory documentation and reporting for an expanding Large Quantity Generator (LQG).
  • Liaises with internal and external stakeholders to align progress toward regulatory compliance and environmental goals.
  • Leads environmental site audits, routine surveys, corrective action launches/trackings and trend monitoring.
  • Provides program support to all departments regarding regulatory compliance requirements and standard operating procedures.
  • Leads development and review of technical documents including policies, procedures, programs and guidance documents; reports regulatory changes to Site Leadership.
  • Supports the Sustainability Manager in meeting corporate and site sustainability targets, develops plans and oversees delivery.
  • Reviews and provides guidance for waste handling and disposal processes.
  • Investigates environmental events to determine prevention methods.
  • Delivers training and communication related to employee, visitor and contractor training programs.
  • Delivers specific projects contributing to the sustainability goals of the Mobile Manufacturing Facility.
Your Boarding Pass
  • Bachelor’s Degree in industrial and/or environmental engineering or related fields, or certification with 10 years proven experience in an industrial environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of local, state and federal environmental regulations.
  • Experience implementing and managing an ISO 14001:2015 program.
  • Ability to understand and apply government regulations related to hazardous materials and wastes.
  • Understanding of emerging topics and technologies.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of the position.
  • Experience or training in project management.
  • Excellent Google Workspace skills.
Preferred
  • Certifications:

    PE, CHMM, ISO 14001:2015 Lead or Internal Auditor, or other related environmental management certifications.
