Role description
Arcadis is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our Resilience Water Team in Mobile, Alabama. The role requires a self‑motivated engineer who can lead design efforts, mentor junior staff, and execute projects within the municipal Water / Wastewater market.
Role accountabilities- Provide leadership, technical knowledge, and experience to advance our design team capabilities.
- Lead project tasks in collaboration with project managers and clients, covering planning, design, permitting, and construction of wastewater and/or reclaimed water facilities, including treatment facilities and conveyance systems.
- Prepare detailed engineering calculations and analysis, utilizing design software to solve complex issues.
- Manage and lead condition assessment evaluations for water/wastewater system assets, such as treatment facilities, pipelines, and pump/lift stations.
- Develop and meet scope, delivery schedules, and project budgets for each assignment.
- Work with project managers and area managers to determine needs, provide solutions, and participate in the preparation of winning proposals and presentations.
- Strengthen client relationships through professionalism and technical expertise during all client meetings.
- Supervise and support the work of others, mentoring junior-level engineers and design/drafting technical staff.
- Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices, quality, and safety standards.
- Some travel may be required for project meetings, site visits, client meetings, and construction oversight.
Required Qualifications
- At least 7 years of experience in water/wastewater design, including leading design projects and managing multi‑disciplinary design teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Alabama or the ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months of hire.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent technical writing and documentation management, including project drawings, specifications, schedules, cost estimates, permit applications, RFIs, and as‑built drawings.
- Client relationship skills and a proven track record of delivering engineering projects that meet client expectations.
- Primary focus on the water/wastewater municipal market with experience in permitting and construction of water and wastewater process mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with distribution, conveyance, and pumping and storage facilities in the Gulf region.
- Master’s degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Active participation in regional or national professional associations.
