Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced commercial Electronic Security Systems Field Engineer to join our federal team. This remote/virtual role requires extensive travel (approximately 75% of the time) to support Department of Defense and other federal government sites across the United States.
Location & CompensationRemote/Virtual with a preference for Huntsville, AL or Washington D.C. Metro/DMV area.
Base salary $85,000 - $105,000, negotiable based on experience, with 10% bonus eligibility.
Benefits include 3 weeks of paid vacation, 5 sick days, 3 floating holidays, and 10 standard holidays per calendar year. All travel expenses are paid by the company.
Responsibilities- Act as an on-site project leader to plan, execute, and complete Electronic Security projects safely and cost‑effectively.
- Perform or delegate tasks such as system programming, integration, installation coordination, network commissioning, and project closeout.
- Develop project plans and coordinate the required resources to ensure timely and cost‑effective installation and completion.
- Provide work direction to subcontractors, electrical installers, technicians, designers, and administration as necessary.
- Complete installation of hardware and software programming following established standards.
- Manage loading, device verification, and commissioning of all system controllers, validate functionality, resolve issues, and provide accurate as‑built and commissioning documentation.
- Coaching, mentoring, and technical assistance to technicians, installers, designers, subcontractors, and less experienced team members.
- Ensure compliance with state, local, and federal legal requirements, and enforce Johnson Controls staff and subcontractor safety standards.
- Assist with selection, ordering, budgeting, and delivery scheduling of materials via the web‑based tool process.
- Communicate project status to management, assist with monthly forecasts of revenue, costs, and gross margin.
- Provide site‑specific training to owners/operators on the system and deliver proper documentation and manuals.
- Adhere to safety standards, local and national security and fire codes, with a high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 5+ years of field experience in the commercial or industrial Electronic Security industry.
- Hands‑on technical experience with systems design, commissioning, and/or programming of Electronic Security Systems.
- Ability to communicate technical material to a non‑technical audience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and general Windows environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances as needed.
- Technical proficiency working with fiber and networks.
- Experience with a wide variety of commercial Electronic Security Systems, including Soft warehouse C‑cure 9000, Lenel, Genetech, Bosch BVMS, and others.
- Lenel programming experience.
- Experience managing or leading security‑related projects and associated teams.
- Electronics certification from an accredited technical school.
- Lenel certification.
