Job Overview

As a Metro Market Technical Project Leader in the HVAC division, you will lead on‑site control systems projects, coordinating hardware design, programming, installation, commissioning, and closeout while maintaining customer satisfaction and project profitability.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the on‑site project leader to plan, execute, and complete control systems projects with assigned customers.
  • Perform or delegate tasks including hardware design, system programming, installation coordination, system and network commissioning, and project closeout.
  • Direct subcontractors, electrical installers, technicians, designers, and administrative staff as required.
  • Manage overall financial results of assigned projects: project costs, billings, collections, and profitability.
  • Balance customer satisfaction with financial objectives, pursuing additional work through change orders.
  • Coordinate communication with the customer throughout all project phases.
  • Ensure work complies with state, local, and federal legal requirements and upholds company ethics.
  • Validate system functionality, resolve issues with subcontractors, and provide accurate project as‑built and commissioning documentation.
  • Evaluate contractual scope, client bulletins, field directives, and scheduling changes and communicate impact to stakeholders.
  • Lead installation of system controllers, device verification, and commissioning.
  • Coordinate site logistics for panel and field device locations.
  • Provide monthly forecasts of revenue, costs, and gross margin to management.
  • Develop project plans and coordinate resources to ensure cost‑effective completion.
  • Conduct site‑specific training for owners/operators on system operation.
  • Deliver accurate documentation and manuals for system operation.
  • Send warranty letters to customers and ensure proper warranty execution.
  • Coach and mentor technical staff and subcontractors, ensuring accurate, on‑time, and within‑budget delivery.
  • Build and maintain long‑term relationships with contractors, clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Attend job progress meetings and enforce safety standards.
  • Order, budget, and schedule procurement of materials and subcontractor services, securing pricing and availability.
  • Complete timely and accurate project billings, manage subcontractor payments, and maintain positive cash flow.
Qualifications
  • Minimum technical associate’s degree with four years of field experience in HVAC or Building Automation, or six years of equivalent experience.
  • Hands‑on experience in systems design and commissioning of digital HVAC/Building Automation control systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to explain technical material to non‑technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in Windows, Excel, and related software.
  • Knowledge of control theory and HVAC/Building Automation systems.
  • Understanding of project accounting, costing principles, and contracting preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and six years of HVAC field experience is preferred.
  • Experience preparing status reports for upper management.
  • High regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
Compensation and Benefits

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $69,000–$105,000, based on education, experience, skills, and market data.
