Position: HVAC Truck Based Senior Control Technician

This position will service the Mobile, Biloxi, Gulfport and Hattiesburg areas.

Responsibilities
  • Under minimal supervision, conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning and general servicing of systems, including detailed troubleshooting.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on‑site customer interface.
  • Mentor control technicians, service technicians and mechanical technicians on building automation activities.
  • Properly complete required project and service documentation.
  • Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to provide solutions and outcomes at the time of service.
  • Diagnose and repair complex control‑systems malfunctions requiring extensive knowledge of a variety of electronic or digital controls systems and the ability to test and write modifications in multiple systems‑software languages.
  • Consult with the customer through data gathered and site assessments.
  • Provide field proposals for retrofits, upgrades and/or enhancements to existing equipment.
  • Assist sales by providing technical recommendations for sales leads.
  • Manage assigned work to meet professional and efficient execution of time and customer satisfaction.
  • Report problems or changes to management immediately.
  • Interface with branch manager, service manager, service project manager or subcontractors on projects to coordinate activities as required ethically and professionally.
  • Provide sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings.
  • May assist with job layouts and bid proposals.
  • Communicate with customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
  • Promote sale of add‑on work.
  • Adhere to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards.
  • Provide safety leadership and instruction to all control technicians in the branch.
  • Provide safety awareness while working onsite with Johnson Controls subcontractors.
  • Train the customer in control‑systems operations.
  • Deliver manuals and documentation to the customer for training needs as required.
  • Provide mentorship for certification of Controls Technicians and Service Technicians on complex building automation systems.
  • Coach, support and train the technical workforce on non‑complex, non‑critical equipment.
  • Compile job documentation such as certificate of completion, customer training form, training certificates and punch lists.
  • Conduct extensive self‑study (reading, research and practice) to improve and maintain technical proficiency in the company’s product lines.
  • Complete certifications as required by the company.
  • Assist in the design and configuration of building control systems as defined by the contract documents.
  • Create flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts and electrical schematics as required.
  • Assist in developing and testing software programs necessary to operate the system per project requirements.
  • Compile and/or complete project as built and close‑out documentation.
  • Assist in coordination and creation of necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
  • Select, order and track materials for assigned projects.
  • Coordinate factory‑mounting processes to meet factory and project schedule.
  • Assist in loading and commissioning of all system and network‑level controllers as required.
  • Assist in validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades.
  • Keep management and customer informed of job progress and issues.
  • Assist in performing site‑specific training for owner/operator on the total building control system.
  • Participate in release meeting with project field team.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
  • Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of four (4) years of commercial controls troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry (buildings, chiller plants and systems).
