We are seeking a Navigation Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL. The role supports rapid navigation development for air, land, and sea flight systems and is part of Leidos’ Defense Systems Sector, working on programs including the AGM-190/A Small Cruise Missile, GBU‑69/B Small Glide Munition, multiple hypersonic missile programs, DARPA’s Gremlins program, and other rapid development efforts.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Development and analysis of navigation algorithms, implementation in 6‑DOF simulations and operational flight software.
- Conduct trade studies for design decisions, develop techniques to assess, validate and verify performance.
- Support flight tests with pre‑flight predictions and post‑flight analyses.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics (or Master’s degree; 2–4 years of relevant work experience) in state estimation algorithms or navigation techniques with knowledge of basic aerodynamic principles.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- Strong math skills in linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry, coordinate transformation; experience in MATLAB, Simulink, C/C++ programming; solid technical communication skills and ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate for on‑site work in Huntsville, AL.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Department of War digital engineering paradigm and experience with flight vehicles, guided munitions, or unmanned aerial systems.
- Experience in terrestrial navigation, SAASM, M‑Code, and GPS‑denied operations.
- Master’s degree or doctorate in engineering or physics.
- Current active Secret or higher clearance.
