Treatment Plant Operator II; Water

Lead work in operating a wastewater or water treatment plant and allied appurtenances while on an assigned shift.

• Graduation from a standard high school or successful completion of the GED.
• A minimum of one year experience at the level of a Treatment Plant Operator I or Pretreatment Specialist I; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.

• Must be certified in water or wastewater treatment by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM). Out-of-state certifications may be accepted, but ADEM certification must be completed within 6 months of employment.
• Mobile and Saraland: possession of a Grade III Certificate in Water or Wastewater Treatment, preferably both, except when assigned to the Stickney Filtration Plant (Moffat Road) and the Myers Filtration Plant (Hubert Pierce Road) which requires a Grade IV Water Certificate.
• Prichard: possession of a Grade II Certificate in Water Treatment or a Grade III/IV Wastewater Certificate.
• Bayou La Batre: possession of a Grade II Certificate in Water Treatment or a Grade III Certificate in Wastewater Treatment.
• Other smaller jurisdictions: possession of a Grade II Certification in Water or Wastewater Treatment or both.
• Must possess a valid driver's license from the state of residence.

Eligible applicants must meet the established medical and physical standards for the class of work. The medical examination must be performed by one of the physicians designated by the Personnel Board, and the applicant bears the cost of the examination.
