Job Role
Management of all aspects of the Energy & Utilities Operation at the Mobile site. This includes electrical distribution, steam, air, water, natural gas, nitrogen, environmental laboratory analysis, and wastewater treatment. The position also ensures that the EU services needed to support the site’s future growth and viability are maintained. Incumbent will promote and maintain the principles of a safe working environment and a well‑trained workforce.
Responsibilities- Manage the production and distribution of energy and utilities at the Mobile site; ensure that internal customers and tenants have the services that they need to support their operations; monitor KPIs, meet production targets, and ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations within the areas of responsibility.
- Ensure that the site’s wastewater treatment plant, ponds, environmental lab, and infrastructure are operated safely, efficiently, and reliably; minimize unplanned downtime and environmental incidents.
- Develop long‑term strategies to keep EU services at Mobile affordable and reliable. This is vital to the site’s ability to attract new tenants and an important source of competitive advantage.
- Lead the technical professionals, technicians, and operators who staff the utilities, environmental lab, and wastewater treatment departments; ensure that these individuals work together as an effective team; provide appropriate training and development, manage their performance, recognize, and reward them for superior performance and notable achievements.
- Identify new technologies, develop, and implement processes, tools, and methodologies for the continuous improvement of the EU functions at the Mobile Site.
- Develop and evaluate Capital and Operating budgets.
- Support the Regional Energy Solutions team as well as the site’s sustainability & ISO
50001 goals.
- Bachelor’s degree required;
Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred. - 5+ years of operations and/or utility management experience within a multi‑unit chemical plant, refinery, or industrial environment is required.
- Strong leadership and customer service skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities while ensuring reliable daily operations and long‑term utility strategy.
- Experience as a plant, process, or production engineer in a chemical plant or refinery preferred.
- In‑depth knowledge of water‑tube, gas‑fired boilers and process steam systems, including generation, distribution, and recovery.
- Background in industrial wastewater treatment systems (e.g., clarification, filtration, desalination, biological treatment).
- Experience with industrial electrical distribution systems, including substations, transformers, switches, and motor control systems (preferred).
- 10+ years of supervisory experience managing technical professionals, with working knowledge of environmental regulations (e.g., RCRA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, state permitting).
