Overview
Airbus Commercial Aircraft is seeking a Cabin & Cargo Engineer to join the Engineering department in Mobile, AL. The A320 Family Cabin & Cargo Engineer develops, justifies, and engineers solutions for design-related non-conformities. Interfaces between manufacturing operations and Airbus Design Offices and Chief Engineering networks.
Responsibilities- Deliver timely, "Right First Time" engineering fixes for deviations, damages, and concessions discovered during final assembly, outfit inspections, and production test flights.
- Support Cabin & Cargo-Furnishing and related Cabin Systems across ATA chapters, ensuring compliance with Airbus Design Principles and airworthiness mandates.
- Formulate and approve real-time technical solutions for systems non-conformities discovered during assembly, ground testing, and production flights; ensure SLAs are met.
- Coordinate with overseas engineering domains; act as technical authority under delegation from Airbus Chief Engineering.
- Provide hands-on systems engineering support across the manufacturing perimeter, including ferry flights; present explanations to Flight Test Department and customers as needed.
- Create and approve design corrective actions, drawing updates, special instructions, and concessions; maintain accountability for safety and compliance of released data with design offices and EASA/FAA.
- Interface with A320 Chief Engineer/Design Office, Manufacturing, and QA; support delivery negotiations.
- Provide engineering support to shop floor during assembly, cabin furnishing, flight line and delivery activities.
- Review and implement corrective and preventive actions; issue Design Query Notes to address recurring defects.
- Provide backup for cabin systems topics (audio-video, water/waste, fire suppression, cabin comms).
- Mentor peers to maintain high operational standards.
- Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering (or equivalent).
- 3+ years of aerospace engineering experience (Design Office, MAP, Chief Engineering, In Service Engineering).
- Experience working in transnational teams.
- Understanding of MAP Engineering deliverables and Airbus Design Principles.
- Knowledge of Aircraft Systems and Systems Design (Architecture and Integration).
- Proven ability to solve engineering problems and manage aircraft configuration rules and internal procedures.
- Experience with Airbus manuals (AMM, Wiring List, IPC, etc.).
