Position Summary

Cabin Upgrade Project Engineer within Airbus Customer Services. Responsibilities include bridging complex engineering design and flawless project execution, focusing on project lifecycle management, planning, stakeholder coordination, and technical foundation in cabin retrofits. Define project scopes, manage subcontractors, mitigate risks, and translate technical aircraft modification data into actionable plans to deliver retrofit solutions and Service Bulletins on time, within budget, and to customer expectations.

Our Engineers work on complex, highly engineered aircraft across all stages of the life cycle, from product development to manufacturing and direct support to airline customers.

Working Environment

The Engineering Center in Mobile, Alabama houses hundreds of Airbus engineers involved in design and development of commercial aircraft cabins, including aftermarket upgrades, reconfigurations, and services worldwide.

Your Challenges
  • Define project objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Translate high‑level business requirements into manageable aircraft modification plans.
  • Develop, track, and manage program enablers for milestones.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate technical roadblocks and dependencies.
  • Manage subcontractors and track deliverables, costs, and schedules.
  • Serve as primary translator between non‑technical stakeholders and technical engineering teams.
  • Apply deep knowledge of aircraft modification lifecycle, Service Bulletin embodiment, and project workflow optimization.
  • Maintain operational liaison between internal teams and international Airbus departments.
Responsibilities & Allocation
  • 20% Cabin Retrofits – Design and oversight of retrofit solutions, engineering drawings, kit definition, and certification planning.
  • 10% Certification Planning – Support certification processes to achieve airworthiness compliance.
  • 10% Hangar Support – Technical support to on‑site modification teams at customer airlines or MRO facilities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Civil, Electrical) or combination of Master’s Degree and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering experience (or 2 years with a Master’s).
  • Direct exposure to project or program engineering methodologies.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., CATIA) to create, review, and interpret designs.
  • Experience with airline, MRO, or hangar environments (preferred).
  • Python or other programming language experience.
  • Knowledge of Service Bulletin production, SBs, BOMs, and customer modification requirements.
  • Familiarity with FAA/EASA regulations, part procurement, and technical documentation (preferred).
  • Strong communication, coordination, organization, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain internal global networks.
  • Basic programming or coding experience.
  • Professional Project Management Certification (PMP) is a plus.

  • Participate in strategic, tactical, and operational decision‑making processes.
  • Use data from diverse sources to develop risk‑mitigation approaches.
