Position Summary

The Cabin Vendor Manager (CVM) applies knowledge of engineering principles, theories, concepts, and industry practices in developing engineering and certification solutions for cabin modules (e.g., galleys, lavatories, stowage), passenger and attendant seats, and in-flight entertainment (IFE) topics.

Your team and environment

The Engineering Center in Mobile, Alabama houses hundreds of Airbus engineers who assist in the design and development of Airbus commercial aircraft cabins, including aftermarket upgrades, reconfigurations, and services of all product types across the globe.

Your challenges / responsibilities
  • Responsible for engineering development per the aircraft modification project plan.
  • Develop technical solutions to support cabin or cargo compartment upgrades, including monument/equipment installation, monument system, and electrical definitions.
  • Generate customized monument specifications and engineering drawings for installation, adaptation, or removal, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Produce installation, adaptation, or removal instructions to support input for Service Bulletins.
  • Determine parts required for monument and kit definitions.
  • Manage engineering drawings and monument specifications using internal and external subcontractors.
  • Support the certification process as required and liaise with other departments, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Oversee vendor liaison activities, meeting support, and overall vendor risk and opportunity management.
  • Provide vendor and internal documentation support for the certification process, including Vendor Service Bulletins checks.
  • Support vendor ITCM, PDR, CDR, and FAI reviews with vendors and customers; provide customer guidance during technical meetings and reviews.
  • Support on-site modification teams as required, including direct on-site support during aircraft retrofits at MROs; answer and resolve queries during and after embodiment.
Required qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Civil, or Electrical); at least 3 years of engineering experience, or Master’s Degree with at least 2 years of engineering experience.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Direct exposure to project or program engineering methodologies.
  • CAD skills: ability to create, interpret, and review designs using industry-standard CAD tools (e.g., CATIA).
  • Experience or familiarity with aircraft cabin interiors or modifications; airline/MRO experience desirable.
  • Programming experience (e.g., Python) and basic coding skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain an internal global network; strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills.
Preferred / additional knowledge
  • Service Bulletins (SB) production process knowledge; ability to read, interpret, and cross-reference SBs, BOMs, and modification requirements.
  • Experience with Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPC) and ATA Technical Manuals (AMM, SRM) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with FAA and/or EASA regulations related to parts procurement, technical documentation, and product traceability.
  • Strategic project management knowledge; ability to predict downstream impacts and mitigate risk.
  • Experience in Google Workspace for documentation and project tracking; strong executive presentation and English communication skills.
Project scope and responsibilities
  • Provide end-to-end engineering and project solutions on cabin modifications to support the Service Bulletin production lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with internal Airbus Customer Services and global Line-Fit teams; interface with airline customers throughout project life cycles to meet expectations.
  • Engage in regular negotiation with internal and external parties; communicate risk, status, and strategies to management.
