Job DescriptionCabin Upgrade Project Engineer (Contract) within Airbus Customer Services—responsible for bridging complex engineering design with flawless project execution. This role focuses on project lifecycle management, planning, and stakeholder coordination with a strong technical foundation in cabin retrofits.
Key Responsibilities- Define project scopes, objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
- Translate high‑level business requirements into structured aircraft modification plans.
- Develop, track, and manage program enablers to ensure timely, high‑quality milestones.
- Identify technical roadblocks and devise contingency plans to maintain delivery schedules.
- Actively manage external subcontractors, tracking deliverables, costs, and schedule adherence.
- Serve as primary translator and liaison between non‑technical stakeholders and engineering teams.
- Apply deep understanding of the aircraft modification lifecycle, including Service Bulletin embodiment.
- Provide operational liaison between internal teams and international Airbus departments.
- Develop cabin retrofit solutions from global architecture to detailed technical design.
- Oversee and create retrofit engineering drawings with focus on speed, quality, and cost optimization.
- Determine and specify exact parts kits required for physical modification designs.
- Maintain technical knowledge of aircraft certification plan development and regulatory support.
- Provide direct technical support to on‑site modification teams, including deployment to customer airlines or MRO facilities.
- Resolve technical queries arising during and after delivery of engineering work instructions and kit shipments.
- Perform other operational and engineering duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering with minimum 3 years of engineering experience, or Master’s Degree with minimum 2 years of experience.
- Direct exposure to project or program engineering methodologies.
- Proven ability to create, interpret, and review designs using industry‑standard CAD tools (e.g., CATIA).
- Experience with airline or MRO environments preferred.
- Experience related to aircraft cabin interiors or modifications preferred.
- Python or other programming language experience preferred.
- Professional Project Management Certification (PMP) preferred.
- Strong communication, coordination, and organization skills.
- Basic programming or coding experience preferred.
- Ability to build and maintain an internal network with colleagues globally.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in technical English, including executive presentation skills.
- General knowledge of Service Bulletin production process, including reading and interpreting SBs, BOMs, and customer modification requirements.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace/Google Suite products for documentation and project tracking.
- Familiarity with FAA and/or EASA regulations regarding aircraft parts procurement and technical documentation.
- CAD (CATIA) proficiency.
- Experience with Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPC) and ATA Technical Manuals (AMM, SRM).
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks (FAA/EASA).
- Data analysis and risk mitigation using varied data sources.
Physical Requirements
Travel required:
up to 10% (Domestic and International).
Physical requirements include onsite presence (100%), vision, hearing, speaking, equipment operation, lifting (up to 30lbs/14kg), and use of personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, and gloves.
