Job Description
The Electrical Engineer III focuses on the design and engineering of power, lighting, grounding/bonding, special systems (telephone/data, security, fire alarm), raceway, cable tray, and other electrical control and building support systems into the built work environment.
The engineer manages multiple complex tasks, establishes priorities, directs the work of others, and oversees the Electrical discipline scope of work and discipline budget on small‑to‑medium projects of intermediate complexity.
Responsibilities- Design electrical systems of intermediate complexity in conformance with code requirements and in coordination with other design disciplines.
- Work closely with architects, engineers, designers, and other internal and external team members to ensure a coordinated, constructible, and complete design.
- Coordinate with construction trade partners, vendors, and manufacturers.
- Develop narratives, reports, and construction drawing packages; write construction specifications on small projects with little oversight.
- Support construction activities such as RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development, and construction progress reports.
- Plan and direct work and manage a project electrical design budget on small‑to‑medium sized projects of intermediate complexity.
- Support proposal development under the supervision of a Lead or Senior Engineer.
- Identify basic non‑compliant existing conditions during site walks and construction field surveys.
- Develop basic internal electrical design and engineering training presentations.
- Utilize Microsoft Office products and available BIM software to execute work.
- Attend professional development activities.
- Lead quality check efforts for small projects of intermediate complexity and drive overall project quality.
- Provide mentorship to less experienced Electrical Engineers and/or Designers.
- Lead systems design programming and master planning on intermediate projects with support from Design Lead or Senior Engineer.
- Work on one or more projects simultaneously as directed by a Supervisor.
- ABET‑accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- 5 years of experience.
- Relevant AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) firm experience.
- Professional Engineer registration in good standing.
- Relevant design firm experience.
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Intermediate knowledge of GMP manufacturing environments.
- Intermediate experience with performing engineering calculations and developing and implementing electrical lighting, power and special systems design.
- Intermediate experience with using and applying electrical codes and standards (NFPA, IESNA, UL, OSHA, and/or IEEE).
- Basic experience with using and applying applicable building codes.
- Proficient with intermediate internal and external cross‑discipline project team coordination.
- Proficient with intermediate coordination with construction trade partners, vendors and manufacturers.
- Proficient at intermediate electrical lighting, power and special systems design calculations with limited supervision.
- Intermediate experience conducting and leading field surveys of existing conditions and providing support of field reporting.
- Basic experience with troubleshooting issues with electrical equipment and systems.
- Ability to travel for client development and project execution, and internal and external training opportunities.
