Job Description:

The Retrofit Solutions Lead Engineer is the driving force behind our Avionics Systems Upgrades. In this highly visible role, you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of Service Bulletins (SB) and Kit projects. From crafting the initial Technical Offer (TO) and steering SB production, all the way to physical embodiment on the aircraft, you will serve as the vital link between engineering design, operational teams, and our airline customers.

Your working environment:

The Engineering Center in Mobile, Alabama houses hundreds of Airbus engineers who assist in the design and development of Airbus commercial aircraft cabins, including aftermarket upgrades, reconfigurations and services of all product types across the globe.

Your challenges:

System Subject Matter Expert:
Immerse yourself in avionics upgrade topics to become the go-to technical authority, capable of anticipating customer needs and identifying innovative retrofit solutions.

Engineering Mentorship:
Leverage your deep working knowledge of system design to guide and answer technical queries from Retrofit Solutions Engineers (RSE) and SB authors during the preparation phase.

Technical Authority:
Actively develop your knowledge of SB Technical Approvals to successfully obtain and execute Design Organization Approval (DOS) delegations.

End-to-End Execution:
Lead the complete SB project lifecycle. Manage planning, secure internal/industrial capacity, and commit to contractual delivery dates that feed our commercial and accounting units.

Technical Assessment:
Perform rigorous technical assessments prior to SB launch (including SEKOM for standard SBs) and execute Technical Offers (TO), Rough Order of Magnitudes (ROMs), and cost assessments.

Matrix Leadership:
While this is an individual contributor role, you will act as a pivotal leader, coordinating operational teams to guarantee project quality and on-time delivery.
