- Develop and qualify materials and processes for engine applications
- Work with design, manufacturing, and process engineers to design, qualify, and implement specialized materials
- Lead material selection and trades for new designs
- Identify and apply mature state-of-the-art processes to manufacturing
- Develop process control documentation and quality assurance measures
- Develop materials test plans for selected materials and assemblies
- Own process and repair qualification across the development and production lifecycle
- Identify and implement opportunities to reduce cost and lead time
- Contribute to the design and manufacturability of advanced engine hardware
- B.S. degree or higher in Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field
- 9+ years of direct experience in materials and processes
- Experience providing M&P guidance across product lifecycle
- Working knowledge of metallic materials including steels, stainless steels, Ci-based alloys and copper
- Experience working with non-metallics such as epoxies, potting materials, and adhesives
- Experience with joining and joint design for adhesive bonding, welding, brazing, and fastening
- U.S. citizenship or nationality, U.S. permanent residency, or lawful admission to the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
- Advanced degree in relevant discipline is desired
- In-depth understanding of materials/process relationships across a broad range of alloys and materials is desired
- Familiarity with additive, casting, and forging manufacturing processes and their impact on material properties is desired
- Experience with maintenance, repair, and overhaul on complex hardware or systems is desired
- Experience setting up and qualifying new manufacturing equipment and/or processes is desired
- Understanding of and ability to work to relevant quality and design codes and standards is desired
- Standard background check required
Demonstrates expertise in materials science and engineering, with a strong focus on developing and qualifying materials for engine applications. Proficient in process control documentation, quality assurance, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance manufacturability and reduce costs.
