Job Description:

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a DoD Skill Bridge Flight line Mechanic to join our Manufacturing department based in Mobile, AL.

The Flight line Mechanic is responsible for performing Functional Test Procedure, Pre & Post Flight inspection to prepare built aircraft for test flight and delivery readiness. This would include troubleshooting, repairing and inspecting aircraft systems using approved aircraft data. The Flight line Mechanic would proficiently operate and understand a wide variety of test equipment and tooling. The Mechanic must have the ability to interpret technical manuals, drawing and engineering data to support tasks.

Airbus is an authorized DoD Skill Bridge partner (per DoDI 1322.29). This 180-day program allows transitioning service members to leverage their military technical expertise in a high-precision aerospace environment.

Skill Bridge Eligibility:
  • Active-duty service member within 180 days of separation.
  • Written Commander (O-4 or above) authorization.
  • Must have current work authorization for U.S. positions.

Nearby on 'Airbus Way' you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility, which strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry, is part of Airbus' strategy to enhance its global competitiveness by meeting the growing needs of its customers in the United States and beyond.

challenges:

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions, rigs, repairs, replacement aircraft structures, components and aircraft systems of moderate difficulty
  • Maintain and rework Aircraft Components including but not limited to landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and ventilation
  • Servicing, repair cabin interior components
  • Prepare documentation in according with company procedure
  • Perform day to day aircraft maintenance
  • Experience with Refuel/Defuel, Aircraft Jack and Tow
Your boarding pass:
  • 3 years minimum aviation experience, preferably in an aviation manufacturing, MRO environment or military aviation
  • Valid Airframe License
  • Must be willing to work Rotation shift schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid passport which allows travel
  • Vocational/Technical School Credential
Required

Education:
  • High School Diploma, GED or an equivalent combination of training/experience.
  • The ability to successfully complete the following trainings provided by Airbus after recruitment:
    • Health & Safety
    • General aircraft familiarization
    • Quality trainings
Preferred:
  • Training from a vocational school, military training or previous employer in the use of application tools and in application techniques.
Physical Requirements:
  • Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions
  • Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings. Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
  • Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
  • Equipment Operation:
    Able to operate a wide range of personal and office electronic equipment. Working on jigs at the fuselage at a height of 15 feet. Able to work on hydraulic lifts sometimes at a height of up to 40 feet.
