RCLF’s Mortgage Loan Originator is a salaried non-exempt position that reports to the Director of Programs. The Mortgage Loan Originator assists borrowers applying for a residential mortgage loan in all aspects of the loan process to include originating, processing, underwriting and closing/post-closing the loan.

Job Duties:

  • Prequalify borrowers by analyzing and verifying income and asset information, credit profile and other supporting documentation provided in accordance with Federal, Investor or RCLF loan guidelines.
  • Inform all applicants of credit decision, rates, terms and affordability based on borrower’s complete qualifying profile.
  • Analyze all initial documentation, request additional information as required, organize files, request appraisal funds and submit required upfront disclosures in accordance with Federal regulation guidelines.
  • Work with secondary market Investors to ensure borrower meets loan program guidelines to proceed to processing and underwriting.
  • Determine borrower’s qualification for available down payment assistance programs and submit required documents to funder for consideration and reservation of funds.
  • Assist Processor in reviewing and analyzing supporting loan documentation to ensure borrower’s eligibility before submitting to Underwriting.
  • Analyze current market rates available per investor and program, price according to RCLF’s policy minimum to determine best rate for company and borrower.
  • Extensive knowledge and use of automated underwriting systems such as Fannie Mae Desktop Underwriter and USDA Guaranteed Underwriting System.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of Conventional, Government and Non-QM products, RCLF lending programs, and regulatory requirements, with demonstrated commitment to professional ethics and in compliance with all federal and state regulations and HMDA requirements.
  • Utilize product training materials, mortgage reference tools and other Investor resources to provide accurate loan program information to all mortgage affiliated parties and partners.
  • Ensure an exceptional customer service experience by overseeing the loan process from origination to close/purchase while providing continuing communication with borrowers, Realtors and closing attorneys.

Required Qualifications:

  • RCLF mortgage lending department is a paperless department. All work is performed electronically. All paper documentation is scanned and saved electronically.
  • Highly self-motivated, flexible in a fast-paced environment, work well independently and as a member of the team.
  • Ability to prioritize and perform under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Minimum three (3) years in field of mortgage loan origination is required.
  • Proficient experience using Calyx Point Loan Software
  • High School Diploma
  • States of Mississippi and Alabama Mortgage Loan Originator License through NMLS is required. Licenses must be in good standing.
  • Complete annual continuing education requirements for license renewal.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and analytical skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of processing, underwriting and closing and post-closing requirements per mortgage regulations
  • Extensive knowledge of conventional and government loan products
  • Extension knowledge of disclosure requirements and Federal and State mortgage regulations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, Calyx Point Central Loan software, Adobe Pro, ability to learn and use other software as needed.
  • Capable of managing and prioritizing workload to achieve multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Reading, writing and mathematical skills at a high school graduate level or higher.
  • Skilled at handling “sales” functions regarding loan products and programs, and service a multi-cultural client base.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends as needed.
