The Safety Manager will implement policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

Required

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required.
  • Five years of related experience preferred.
Preferred

Education and Experience
  • A master’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field.
  • EHS Certification.
Essential Functions

  • Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
  • Plans, implements, and conducts preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs, reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
  • Plans, implements, manages, and maintains comprehensive environmental safety & health programs.
  • Collaborates with management to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management, maintaining a written log of safety inspection activities, reports, and correspondence.
  • Monitors compliance with safety procedures.
  • Ensures safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
  • Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
  • Ensures completion of required OSHA record-keeping and reporting including but not limited to maintaining OSHA Logs and submitting yearly to OSHA.
  • Provides technical and administrative support to the safety advocate/committee.
  • Stops operations and activities that could harm employees or equipment.
  • Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Work Environment

This job operates in a mixture of professional office, warehouse, and manufacturing environments. This role will routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The role should be comfortable with warehouse and manufacturing environments as well.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel or crouch; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee should be comfortable wearing steel toe shoes and working/walking in a manufacturing environment, working around machines in operation.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Time of operation could vary from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work. Travel is required and will sometimes require overnight stay.
