Responsibilities

The Senior Cost Reporting Analyst department responsibilities: requires minimal supervision to safely perform job functions; performs special projects and other work as assigned by management; prepares or assists with reports and surveys; displays a high level of computer and software expertise to complete assigned tasks and maintains knowledge base of software applications as needed for reporting and internal analyses for management;

creates and maintains ad hoc reports and assists with the conversion of existing files to new formats; assists with the interface with outside data support vendors as assigned by management; analyzes problems and opportunities related to Reimbursement and the cost reports; reports results to supervisor; prepares contractual allowance work papers for monthly entries and year-end adjustments for financial audits; assists in preparation of all aspects of interim and annual Medicare Cost Reports;

develops data throughout the year for the preparation of the annual CMS Medicare Cost Report. Knowledge of CMS Cost Reporting Rules and the Cost Report Structure is required; a keen understanding of the Health System’s Data and Reporting is required along with the ability to maintain an adherence to deadlines required to prepare data in a systematic nature to sequence the data for its availability in its proper progression;

formatting of the data necessary for Expenses, Revenue, Statistics and Adjustments according to CMS rules; knowledge of CMS Reporting Software is also required; develops and maintains knowledge of CMS Wage Index Rules and Requirements. Researches and prepares the Medicare Cost Reports S-3 annually; provides response and detail for the annual Wage Index Review; develops the data required for the CMS Medicare Occupational Mix Adjustment for submission as required in accordance with the MOMA Requirements and Instructions;

reviews the data submitted for correctness and accuracy; develops both an understanding of GME/IME requirements and the operational requirements of New Innovations; uses training and expertise to function as a resource to the Reimbursement Department and the Health System for GME records, reporting and requirements; experienced in the proper configuration of Rotations and Assignments, and the includable and excludable requirements of GME/IME training;

functions as a resource regarding the proper reporting of Medical Resident time and in the development of data for cost reports; annually develops, prepares, formats and verifies the data necessary for the Annual Medicaid Audit for submission to the State of Alabama; task requires data development in strict adherence to the current year’s rules as provided by the State; periodically develops data for Medicaid submission to states other than Alabama;

prepares and verifies the data required for the Medicare S-10. Assists the department managers with annual reviews, audits and examinations; develops expertise in the Cerner system with regards to tracing patient data related to charges, payments, balances and statistics necessary for Reimbursement reporting requirements; gain familiarity with the various reports produced by the Cerner system; determine the best and most accurate reports to use for Reimbursement reporting purposes;

attests that the Cerner data and reports balance to Banner Data and report any and assist in resolving any discrepancies; reviews and verifies codes, account numbers, and general ledger keys assigned by others to validate cost reporting information is correct; the Analyst will function as…
