This is a full-time night shift Pharmacist position for St. Mary's Hospital in Madison working a 7 on/7 off schedule. The hours are 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The schedule is 70 hours in a two‑week period. Additional differentials are available for night shift and weekends. A one‑time sign‑on bonus may be available to qualified applicants with a 2‑year service commitment.

Provides pharmaceutical care to patients, verifies medication orders, compounds and dispenses pharmaceuticals in accordance with federal, state and local regulations and hospital policy. Serves as a resource to other healthcare professionals including pharmacy students and residents and ensures that patient care meets standards of safety and effectiveness. Oversees the duties of the pharmacy technicians and interns.

• Ensures safety and appropriateness of medication therapy through order verification, dispensing, home medication reconciliation, chart review, patient counseling, lab value monitoring and dose/therapy adjustment as applicable. Documents medication‑related plans and interventions in the electronic medical record.
• Provides clinical consultation delivering best‑practice, evidence‑based and complete information to practitioners. Makes recommendations and encourages safe and cost‑effective pharmacotherapy for patients through multi‑disciplinary collaboration.
• Oversees the medication dispensing process to ensure accurate and timely delivery of optimal pharmacotherapy to patients. This includes supervision of pharmacy technicians and/or interns who support the role of the pharmacist in the drug delivery system.
• Precepts pharmacy students and residents, as applicable.
• Works in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D. or Bachelor of Pharmacy) from an accredited school of pharmacy.

• No experience required.

• Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0–25 lbs.
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
• Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
• Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
• Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
• Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
• Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25–50 lbs.
• Rare climbing.

Resuscitation Certification Requirement:
Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) required within 90 days of employment. Other resuscitation certifications may be required depending on the department.
