Description

Job Description:

Verification/authorization specialist responsible for providing office support, including verifying accepted payers, obtaining required authorizations, charting, phone calls, and patient scheduling. This role is typically the first point of contact with intake/clinical staff, greeting them and collecting initial information such as contact, referral, and insurance details.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous experience with insurance verification and authorization is preferred
  • Computer skills including MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and scheduling software
  • Interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to follow directions, read, and write
  • Maturity and ability to handle job demands
  • Basic medical terminology
  • Ability to participate in physical activity and perform duties as required
Responsibilities
  • Verify all payers assigned in a timely manner
  • Maintain professional relationships and communication with internal and external customers
  • Obtain timely authorization for all payers requiring authorization
  • Follow up on pending/outstanding authorizations promptly
  • Maintain office space and reception areas
  • Collaborate with billing on retro pre-certification, billing issues, and/or authorization denials
  • Oversee office and medical supply inventories
  • Manage email and mail traffic in a timely manner
  • Maintain forms and packages as directed by supervisor
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Director of Verification and Authorizations

  • Ability to perform duties that may require physical activity
  • Ability to work extended periods seated or standing; occasional moderate lifting
  • Ability to bend, lift, and stand as part of daily tasks
