Job Description Summary
- The University of South Alabama's department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is seeking to hire a Research Technologist I. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.

Essential Functions
- Studies complexes involved in the repair of mitochondrial DNA via the base excision repair pathway. Utilizes both biochemical and biophysical approaches to study the complexes formed during the base excision pathway to the mitochondria. Performs various techniques including in vitro protein purification, binding activity, repair assays, multi-angle light scattering, X-ray crystallography, and SAXS. Assists new post-doctoral research fellows and graduate assistant students in their projects as needed.

Collects data and prepares reports of findings. Follows appropriate safety procedures for handling biohazardous and highly toxic substances. Maintains laboratory inventory, orders supplies as needed, and keeps lab in an orderly manner. Regular and prompt attendance. Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required. Related duties as required.
