Job HighlightsWe are expanding our Emergency Department (ED) at UAB Hospital, Alabama’s first ACS-verified Level I Adult Trauma Center, and we’re hiring additional team members. As one of the largest emergency departments in the country, this expansion will include 115+ treatment and triage spaces, more than doubling our capacity as well as a 30-bed inpatient observation unit. The new space was designed with staff input and will have new equipment and features, including dedicated technology like CT scanners, X-ray machines, echo ultrasound, a ceiling lift for bariatric patients, enhanced security, and a streamlined teleadmission process.

Job DescriptionOperate diagnostic ultrasound equipment and perform ultrasound procedures on various anatomical internal organs, vessels, fluid accumulations, masses, and developing fetuses.
Report preliminary findings, measurements, and diagnoses to appropriate personnel (Radiologist or Cardiologist).
Record scanned ultrasound images and transfer to imaging system for interpretation after checking for quality.
Qualifications- High School diploma or GED required.
- Current credential as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
- Currently registered as a Registered Technologist with Sonography Designation (R.T.(S)(ARRT)) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Current credential as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) in area(s) of specialization.
- Applicable registration within one (1) year for new graduates required.
- For Radiology department:
- ARDMS: registered as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or a student/new graduate eligible to sit for exam with ARDMS.
- ARDMS abdomen or OB/GYN registry required within 12 months of hire into classification.
- ARRT: registered as a Registered Technologist (R.T.) with ARRT.
- Advanced certification in Sonography (R.T.(S)) required within 12 months of hire.
- ARDMS Registered Vascular Technology (RVT), ARRT Vascular Sonography (VS) or CCI Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) required within 24 months of hire.
