- Applies casts, braces, and splints
- Provides instructions to patients regarding the care of applied devices
- Educates patients on the signs and symptoms of possible complications
- Orders custom braces to include measuring, fitting, and educating patient on use
- Orders supplies as needed
- Performs KT-2000 testing
- Assists supervisor in maintaining inventory of cast room, linen, and cleaning supplies
- Maintains a clean work area
- Interacts with patients, faculty, and staff in person and by telephone
- Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
- Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
- Regular and prompt attendance
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
- Related duties as assigned
Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
Qualifications- Associate's Degree in orthopaedic technology from an accredited institution Required OR
- High School Diploma or equivalent, completion of a 1 year program in orthopaedic technology, and 2 years of experience as an orthopaedic technician Required OR
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years of experience as an orthopaedic technician Required
- Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Performs splinting, casting, and application of traction, braces and other devices under the direction of an orthopedic physician or physician assistant.
