Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the management and direction of all aspects of the operations of assigned practices in a manner consistent with established policies and procedures of USA Health System
  • Provides an efficient operational environment that meets the needs and expectations of physicians, patients, and staff
  • Ensures compliance with financial plans and budgets
  • Monitors financial and service performance of assigned practices and takes appropriate actions to ensure that financial goals are attained
  • Works to establish cooperation between faculty and administration by fostering an atmosphere of two-way communication and trust
  • Attends faculty meetings in place of or in conjunction with Assistant Administrator to keep the faculty fully informed about operational and financial issues
  • Provides financial reports, including charge and collection results
  • Discusses opportunities for revenue enhancement (charges and collections); seeks input from staff regarding opportunities for operational improvement
  • Communicates Health System policies and procedures and works with practice medical directors and staff to ensure compliance; works with the Assistant Administrator and Chairman to ensure that the practice functions cooperatively as a large multi-specialty group practice, striving for the success of the entire organization
  • Responsible for the operating process of clinics, including patient and paper flow, revenue controls, staff work environment and the development of new practice functions and activities; prepares reports on physician productivity (clinic/outpatient and inpatient activity) for Chair, Division Chief, and Assistant Administrator
  • Works with Chair and Office of Faculty Affairs to ensure that physicians meet guidelines for appropriate faculty rank
  • Works with internal and external billing functions and credentialing/enrollment to ensure proper credentialing according to health system policies
  • Works with administration, Chairs, and Director of Nursing to ensure that quality programs are in place to measure and improve quality of care to patients
  • Assists with development and negotiation of proposed agreements relating to the practices
  • Purchases medical and office supplies and equipment required in the operation of clinics, ensuring efficient inventory control and best pricing opportunities
  • Collaborates with departmental residency office to plan patient flow and resources for residency clinic
  • Works with the Chair and Assistant Administrator in the strategic planning process to ensure that the long-term objectives of the practices are achieved
  • Remains knowledgeable of the external environment to identify the competition, consumers and market opportunities
  • Serves as a resource to the Assistant Administrator and Chairman in the evaluation of the clinical physician staff and prepares business plans to make recommendations
  • Identifies opportunities for program and service development and marketing
  • Serves as a facilitator in the achievement of the vision established by the Chairman and Administration
  • Serves as a change agent seeking ways to position the practices to successfully meet the challenges in the marketplace
  • Accountable for the management of the revenue cycle through the evaluation of systems and procedures that impact the financial performance of the practices
