Position: Vice President for Human Resources

Dakota State University (DSU) is on the rise—and we’re looking for a bold, strategic leader to help shape what comes next. As a national leader in cybersecurity and technology-driven education, DSU is redefining the future of higher education. We invite applications and nominations for an exceptional Vice President for Human Resources to join the President’s Cabinet and Board of Regents HR leadership team and play a pivotal role in leading the university’s workforce strategy.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and modernize all HR functions, including:
    • Talent acquisition and retention
    • Workforce planning and culture
    • Employee relations and engagement
    • Compliance and policy leadership
  • Serve as a trusted, strategic advisor to executive leadership on all people-related matters
  • Build a high-performing HR team focused on innovation, service, and continuous improvement
  • Foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, and engagement across campus
  • Support leadership development and succession planning for the next generation of campus leaders
What We’re Looking For
  • Five or more years’ experience in an HR leadership role
  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field
  • The ability to influence, partner, and lead at the executive level
  • Strong judgment, integrity, and a commitment to service
  • Deep knowledge of employment practices, compliance, and organizational development
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree and/or SHRM – SCP, SPHR, or equivalent credentials
  • Experience in higher education or the public sector
