Payroll Manager

Magee Resource Group has partnered with a growing not-for-profit health system in a growing community in the Southeast, to recruit a Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations in a complex, multi-site setting.

This is a high-impact leadership role overseeing payroll for ~4,000+ employees across hospital, clinics, and additional facilities. The Payroll Manager will play a critical role in optimizing systems, strengthening processes, and leading a team while partnering closely with HR leadership on strategic initiatives.

• Lead day-to-day payroll operations for a large, multi-entity healthcare system
• Oversee and develop a team of payroll professionals
• Ensure accurate, timely payroll processing including full-cycle (end-to-end) execution
• Conduct audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements
• Drive process improvements and identify opportunities to streamline workflows
• Partner with HR, finance, and IT to enhance payroll system functionality (UKG/Kronos)
• Lead system optimization efforts, upgrades, and new feature adoption
• Manage payroll calendar, escalations, and complex employee pay issues
• Support reporting and analytics to identify trends and improve labor cost efficiency

• 7+ years of payroll experience, including end-to-end payroll processing
• 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
• Experience in large, complex organizations (500+ employees; 1,000+ preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, HR, or related field (equiv. combination of education and relevant payroll experience may be considered in lieu of)
• Strong knowledge of payroll systems, implementations, system optimization
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects and drive process improvements
• Strong analytical, auditing, and problem-solving skills
• Certified Payroll Professional preferred
