Senior Cloud Engineer

Job Summary

As Alliant continues to grow and invest in modern, scalable technology, we are expanding our cloud capabilities to support an evolving business and member experience. The Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and supporting hybrid‑cloud infrastructure across Azure, AWS, and on‑prem virtualization platforms such as Nutanix. In this role you will develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, collaborate with platform, network, and security teams to enhance operational efficiency and reliability, and manage full environment life cycles—patching, scaling, and optimizing workloads for cost, performance, and compliance.

• Coordinate departmental projects and the design, evaluation, recommendation, building, testing and maintenance of medium to large computing services and write specification documents for these systems.
• Respond to support tickets and resolve technical issues escalated through Help Desk within specified time frames, using troubleshooting tools and procedures to maintain defined service levels.
• Provide leadership and guidance for resolution of moderate to complex operational issues.
• Comply with local, state, and government regulations such as SOX, NERC CIP, FERC, and TSA.
• Maintain disaster recovery plans and coordinate the planning and execution of disaster recovery drills.
• Lead creation and maintenance of technical documentation related to hardware/software in client computing environment as well as training materials for end users.
• Prepare communications and make presentations on system enhancements and/or alternatives.
• Participate in the usage of Agile processes to gather requirements, develop solutions, and deliver products.
• Assist other teams and help manage relationships with outside vendors.
• Engage in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s Values and help deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

Bachelor’s Degree emphasized in information technology or related area.

6 years of experience in PC support in a networked environment, including system hardware and software support, advanced administrative experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems and software, standard application packages, imaging software, profile migration techniques, client computing hardware, peripherals, and general PC troubleshooting and problem resolution.

• Demonstrated advanced understanding of software application packaging and distribution tools, methods, and techniques.
• Working knowledge of network operating systems, LAN characteristics, network topologies, components, protocols and services such as TCP/IP, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and routers.
• Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to apply logical reasoning to situations and derive workable solutions for moderate to highly complex problems.
• Ability to lead a project team to the successful conclusion of moderate to complex technology initiatives.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

• Pay Range: $85,000‑$116,000
• Eligible to participate in the annual incentive program.
