Responsibilities
  • Report and document any security incidents, breaches, or unusual activities.
  • Foster teamwork between all members of Security
  • Conduct guardhouse (desk) postings, foot patrols, and mobile patrols.
  • Complete reports and other documentation
  • Ensure compliance with security protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Work under general supervision and follow guidelines set by management.
  • Report any facility issues such as fire hazards and leaking water pipes.
  • Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
  • Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
  • Regular and prompt attendance
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
  • Related duties as assigned
Additional Information

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma and 1 year security or related experience. Required
  • Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Specified positions may require possession of a valid driver's license and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, effective analytical skills, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
  • PC proficiency in Microsoft Office and an ability to learn additional systems with minimal instruction.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents.
  • Ability to write detailed instructions and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations.
  • Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to decipher various reports and maintain reports upon request.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in written form.
  • Ability to handle pressure and make quick, accurate decisions.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently and as part of a team.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills with attention to detail and ability to take charge of an emergency situation.
  • Ability to work well with others and a willingness to accept direction from supervision.
  • Ability to learn and perform basic computer skills.
  • Ability to complete work assignments, take and understand direction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
  • Identify security risks and vulnerabilities through regular assessments and take proactive measures to mitigate those risks.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
