Senior Network Technician – Convention Services (Field Technology Expert)Leverage expert-level knowledge and experience in network deployments to deliver a high-quality customer experience, uphold standards, and meet company goals. Ensure, via monitoring and maintenance, 100% uptime during the customer’s event. Partner with all departmental resources (Hospitality Technicians – Convention Services, show management, decorators, sales, engineering, contracted facilities and partner venues) to meet customer requests and demands.
This position is required on-site at the Convention Center all working days.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Deep/Broad Technical, Hospitality & Product Knowledge- Possesses a deep understanding of the network and is knowledgeable of the principles and processes involved in products and services in Cox’s Hospitality environments.
- Acquires, maintains and stays current on technical knowledge and Hospitality products through ongoing training (initial, refresher, product and service updates).
- Studies and interprets technical specifications for new equipment/applications to evaluate feasibility of deployment and translate downstream impacts for troubleshooting.
- Maintains and grows technical expertise through industry-related continuing education.
- Scope of work focuses on larger, multi-customer, complex, market-wide issues and/or improvement opportunities.
- Tasked with providing focused resolution of Project, Property and/or Network escalations, tech virtualizations, utilization, chronic issues and property monitoring.
- May assist other technicians with complex customer resolution, isolate origin of trouble and investigate root causes.
- Serves in an advisory capacity to Hospitality Field Operations leaders, technicians, and boundary partners through knowledge sharing and expertise.
- Advise, consult and report on areas of focus, concern and/or opportunity; serves as a technical resource to regional, market and operations leaders including the NOC and SD.
- Facilitates participation in a cross-regional community of Field Technology Experts; evaluates and capitalizes on leading practices, refines processes across regions and businesses to ensure uniformity and flexibility for rapid collaborative response to outages.
- Supports back‑office troubleshooting related to front‑line interface and applications, and understands the mechanics and interconnections between tracking and work routing systems.
- Provides analysis and reporting of trends, mines data and surfaces potential root causes.
- Interprets data impacts on operations to refine focus on priorities for work.
- Reports on chronic issues addressing network and property health and seeks root causes.
- Participates in or conducts analyses involving trending and broader impacts to the business and/or customers; makes recommendations for operational impacts and identifies opportunities for streamlining, innovation or transaction reduction within all Hospitality environments.
- Explores process improvements for greater efficiencies or synergies.
- Proactively identifies concerns and explores opportunities for improvement, e.g., resolves issues before customer contact or business interruption.
- Provides specialized training and knowledge/skill reinforcement to technicians as needed.
- Participates in team meetings as requested.
- Participates in work that may require overtime, unscheduled days, and regular work hours.
- Primary contribution is in applying knowledge; greater than 50% of time is individual contributor work.
- Accountabilities may require onsite work in field, network and/or customer premises requiring physical and environmental demands typical of field/network technicians.
