JOB SUMMARY:Join Jefferson County Human Resources in Birmingham, Alabama, as a Business Systems Analyst and play a key role in supporting the technology and systems that keep HR operations running. In this position, you will serve as a link between HR, County departments, and technology, helping improve processes, troubleshoot system issues, analyze data, create reports, and support the County’s Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
Business Systems Analysts help administer and maintain HR systems, troubleshoot system and data issues, and identify solutions that improve functionality for users. The position also supports data transfers to external partners, processes personnel actions, reviews and resolves system errors, and evaluates requests for system changes. Analysts create reports, templates, and databases used to support HR operations, organizational analysis, and decision-making.
This position is based in Birmingham, Alabama, and work is performed onsite within the Jefferson County Human Resources Department. There are no supervisory responsibilities.

$74,068 - $114,899
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:The following are job-related qualifications that are required for employment consideration for this position:
Option A:- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Information Management, or relevant degree demonstrating knowledge of scripting or programming and generating system reports
- Work experience providing systems administration support (e.g., establishing user permissions, troubleshooting issues in enterprise systems, maintain data integrity, ensure data mapping, etc.).
- Work experience using Microsoft Excel (e.g. creating formulas, pivot tables, importing/exporting data, data formatting).
- Work experience analyzing data to present potential solutions to stakeholders (e.g., supervisors, users).
- Work experience working with scripting and/or programming languages (e.g., SQL, VB, C++, Java) including data querying and importing and exporting data.
- Work experience writing reports using report generating software or enterprising reporting systems (e.g., HRIS, Financial Systems, Time Keeping Systems, UKG Ready, etc.).
- Work experience providing systems administration support (e.g., establishing user permissions, troubleshooting issues in enterprise systems, maintain data integrity, ensure data mapping, etc.)
- Work experience using Microsoft Excel (e.g. creating formulas, pivot tables, importing/exporting data, data formatting).
- Work experience analyzing data to present potential solutions to stakeholders (e.g., supervisors, users).
QUALIFICATIONS:
The following are job-related qualifications deemed desirable by Jefferson County. These qualifications may be considered when reviewing applications and inviting candidates to participate in subsequent steps in the selection processes.
- Experience working with HR systems and workforce data (e.g., UKG Ready reporting, automation, workflows, user administration, troubleshooting, data analysis).
- Experience using SQL to join datasets, write, and/or troubleshoot existing queries.
JOB DUTIES:
- Monitors systems and information backup through records management, applications analysis, and various reporting systems to help ensure data integrity is maintained and backups are readily available.
- Procures and/or manages inventory (i.e., supplies and equipment) to ensure the products and services are available to meet the operational needs of each department.
- Investigates computer related problems associated with the Local Area Network, Wide Area Network, databases, applications, or equipment by testing the system and monitoring system performance in order to resolve the problems for the end user.
