Job Summary
At IAA, our Yard Attendants enjoy working in the elements. They are detail-oriented but quick on their feet and often have a passion for cars. Yard Attendants focus on safety first, but also keep operations fast and smooth. This critical frontline role offers opportunities to learn new technologies and stay on the cutting edge of the auction industry.

- Vehicle check-in by recording and filing information on vehicles assigned to the facility
- Detail (thoroughly clean) vehicles to improve their appearance and enhance their value at auction; training provided
- Operate passenger vehicles in a safe manner, moving the vehicles around the facility and/or participating in drive-through auctions
- Recover keys, license plates, and other information or objects from vehicles at the facility and store them in the appropriate locations at the branch
- Assist visitors by providing appropriate guidance and advising them to the appropriate person for additional assistance
- Train and develop on the job in forklift and loader operation
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle as required for job duties
- Upbeat demeanor to ensure every customer interaction is positive
- Strong teamwork orientation; enjoy working in a team environment
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently, occasionally lift up to 100 lbs, and perform repetitive manual tasks
- Physical demands of the role include outdoor work in all weather; see Physical Demands section
- Basic automotive repair skills
- Experience in the rental or construction industry preferred
- Apply safety procedures to protect company and customer assets
- Use personal protective equipment such as safety gloves and safety glasses
- Prevent accidents by recognizing unsafe situations and responding appropriately
- Follow regulations related to hazardous materials handling
- Constantly lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 lbs
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
- Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull over 100 lbs
- Constantly reach outward, handle and finger objects, stand, walk, and sit
- Frequently bend, squat, kneel, twist, turn, climb, and crawl
- Position involves primarily outdoor work in all types of weather
- Remain alert to potential hazards associated with heavy equipment and other vehicles in the work area
