About the Opportunity:Our client, a growing PE-backed dental platform is seeking two Director of Operations to oversee their Alabama market & their Tennessee market. Successful individuals will be responsible for approximately 15-20 locations across their regions with full accountability for operational performance, profitability and market growth.
These are both field-based leadership positions, requiring hands‑on operators who are comfortable leading teams, driving accountability & improving performance across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities:- Full ownership of the Alabama/Tennessee market, including responsibility for approximately 15+ locations
- Full P&L responsibility with accountability for revenue, profitability and overall market performance
- Drive operational excellence across all locations, ensuring consistent execution and achievement of key performance metrics
- Lead, coach and develop practice leaders, office managers and operational teams
- Build a culture of accountability, performance and continuous improvement throughout the market
- Analyse KPIs, financial performance and operational data to identify opportunities and areas of concern
- Identify under-performing locations and implement structured performance improvement plans
- Partner with providers and practice leadership to improve patient experience, production, collections and overall practice performance
- Support recruitment, onboarding and retention initiatives across the market
- Develop succession plans and identify future operational leaders within the organization
- Lead change management initiatives and drive adoption of operational best practices
- Build and implement operational frameworks that improve consistency, efficiency and scalability
- Partner closely with executive leadership on market strategy, growth initiatives and long-term planning
- Maintain a highly visible presence within practices, spending significant time in the field supporting teams and solving operational challenges
- Ensure the market consistently achieves financial, operational and patient care objectives
- 8+ years of multi-site DSO operations leadership experience
- Experience overseeing a region, market or business unit with full P&L responsibility
- Proven responsibility for driving revenue growth, profitability and operational performance
- Strong commercial and financial acumen with the ability to interpret KPIs, financial reports and operational metrics
- Experience leading teams across multiple locations and developing high-performing leaders
- Track record of improving under-performing practices, markets or business units
- Comfortable operating within ambiguity and making decisions without excessive direction or oversight
- Strong conflict resolution and change management capabilities
- Hands‑on, field-oriented leadership style with a willingness to spend significant time inside practices rather than behind a desk
- Advanced Excel and reporting capability preferred
- Experience with in PE-backed healthcare organizations beneficial but not required
- Total market ownership
