Position SummaryThe Market Manager reports to the Area Manager and oversees all aspects of the business in their assigned market, including customer base growth, people management, operational excellence and overall profitability.
Supervisory Responsibilities- Recruit, interview, hire and train new staff.
- Oversee the daily workflow of assigned staff.
- Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
- Lead a team of route salespeople to drive revenue growth through effective customer management, new business development, route schedule compliance, proper inventory handling, and promotion of safe driving and workplace safety.
- Mentor and foster professional development of route sales/delivery personnel.
- Ensure best‑in‑class route distribution service by upholding operational excellence standards.
- Prioritize exceptional customer care and satisfaction at every touchpoint.
- Grow market share through business development and account management to maximize profitability.
- Effectively support national accounts.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3‑5 years of route sales management experience.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a strong team.
- Ability to work independently with an exceptional work ethic.
- Outgoing, success‑driven personality.
- Basic literacy in reading, writing, mathematics and computer functions, including:
- Read, write and interpret basic correspondence.
- Perform simple mathematical calculations: add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Operate basic office equipment: telephone system, computers and copy machines.
- Use Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) beyond basic skill levels.
- Travel as required, including periodic overnight stays for meetings, training and other work‑related events.
- Successfully complete the pre‑employment process.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related discipline and/or equivalent supervisory experience.
- Prior supervisory experience in the beverage market and/or route distribution.
- Experience using hand‑held sales device tools and SAP.
- Ability to safely climb stairs or ramps at customer locations, including in and out of trucks.
- Ability to sit and walk for extended periods.
- Use of hand tools and dexterity to operate buttons and levers of equipment.
- Ability to push or pull up to 250 lbs with hand truck or lift equipment, or lift up to 55 lbs.
- Maintain a valid DOT medical certificate as required for regulated vehicle operation.
