The Resource Manager serves as a strategic workforce planning leader for the Architectural Department within the Data Center Performance Unit. This role is responsible for optimizing staffing assignments in collaboration with Sector Managers and Department Leadership, forecasting resource needs, supporting department growth through recruitment and onboarding, and providing operational support that enable efficient project delivery across a rapidly expanding data center portfolio.
The Resource Manager will report to the Department Manager and works closely with Architectural Department Leadership, Sector Managers, Program Managers, and Staff.
- Track and report staff resourcing and utilization; maintain the department's resource-allocation system including all staff roles, level of effort (LOE) and assigned hours, and major deliverables for all active and upcoming projects
- Lead staffing organization efforts in collaboration with the Sector Managers and Program Managers; review the assignments of key personnel, roles, and projects with Department Leadership
- Coordinate architectural staffing needs and assignments with other departments and business units, such as Global Integrated Delivery (GID)
- Forecast staffing needs based on project pipeline and anticipated workload
- Identify resource gaps and provide recommendations to Department Leadership
- Prepare recurring operational reporting for Department Leadership and the VP/Business Unit Director, including headcount, utilization, and retention
- Maintain records of staff information such as location, salary, role, and credentials
- Support the development of proposals for new work; review and advance the scope of work narratives, identify RFI's for the proposal process, generate level of effort (LOE) hours and FTE's required, consider initial staffing assignments required to complete the work
- Develop and maintain a file organization system for the department's SharePoint system including standards and other operational resources
- Coordinate, schedule, and facilitate e3 performance evaluations between staff and their managers
- Collaborate with the recruiting agents; interview scheduling, candidate communication, and applicant-tracking system administration
- Coordinate new hire offers with Department Leadership, recruiting, and HR
- Facilitate the start of a new hire with HR, IT, local office administrative personnel; act as a Jacobs Navigator or assign to Sector Managers as necessary
- Develop an onboarding process and coordinate onboarding logistics with Jacobs Navigators as new hires are onboarded
- Arrange local office onboarding with facility management and new hire to confirm new hire has required badging and security access to their local office
- Review and approve staff timesheets of direct reports or indirect reports as identified
- Serve as the department's liaison to the centralized AM Support Functions (HR, Finance, Legal, IT, Marketing & Comms, and others) rather than duplicating those functions within the department
- Support the staff through reciprocity process when required to get an architectural license in another state
- Organize Monthly department staff meetings along with Department Leadership
- Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) or Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in architecture, operations management, resource management, or a related professional discipline
