Ship Repair Superintendent

Ship repair superintendent manages and oversees government marine repair, maintenance, and dry-docking projects to ensure vessels are safe, seaworthy, and compliant with regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Project Management:
Plan, schedule, and direct ship repair projects from initial specifications to final delivery. - On-Site Supervision:
Coordinate daily operations, work crews, and subcontractors across multiple trades. - Compliance & Safety:
Inspect vessels and enforce strict adherence to maritime and environmental safety standards. - Budget & Logistics:
Monitor project budgets, approve material requirements, and manage equipment deployment. - Communication:
Serve as the main point of contact between vessel owners, ship masters, contractors, and port authorities.
- Education:
Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related maritime field (or equivalent sea-going experience). - Experience:
Prior hands-on experience in shipyard operations, dry-dock management, or marine engineering (often advancing from roles like Chief Engineer). - Skills:
Strong leadership, critical path scheduling, technical blueprint interpretation, and crisis management. - Physical Requirements:
Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), pass respirator fitness tests, and frequently climb ladders or navigate heavy industrial shipyard environments.
