Pay Range: $23.25 - $29.00 based on experience and interview

Job Description:
- The structural fitter lays out and fabricates metal structural parts, such as plates, bulkheads, and frames, and braces them in position within hull of vessel for riveting or welding. Lays out position of parts on metal, working from blueprints or templates and using a scribe and hand tools. Locates and marks reference lines, such as center, buttock, and frame lines. Positions parts in hull of vessel, assisted by a Tacker-Helper.
Aligns parts in relation to each other, using jacks, come-a-longs, turnbuckles, clips, wedges, and mauls. Marks location of holes to be drilled and installs temporary fasteners to hold part in place for welding or riveting. Installs packing, gaskets, liners, and structural accessories and members, such as doors, hatches, brackets, and clips. May tack weld clips and brackets in place prior to permanent welding.
May bend, flange, cut, and shape plates, beams, and other heavy metal parts, utilizing the mentioned equipment.
Experience required:
- 5+ years of experience as a Ship fitter 1st Class
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints
- Experience using the equipment below

o Mauls
Requirements:
- This position requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints and templates to accurately lay out and fit structural components.
- The work is hands-on and physically demanding, involving frequent standing, walking, bending, and handling of materials. Occasional lifting of materials up to 40 pounds is required. Heavier materials may be handled with assistance or mechanical equipment.
- The structural fitter works as part of a team and regularly coordinates with a Tacker-Helper to properly align components prior to tack welding.
- Precision is essential. The position involves aligning and positioning metal parts to exact specifications using hand tools and mechanical alignment equipment.
- A strong commitment to safety is required. Employees must attend safety meetings, wear required personal protective equipment, and comply with all HSEQ policies and procedures.
- Typical work hours range from 40 to 60 hours per week. Hours worked beyond 40 in a week are considered overtime. A 30-minute unpaid lunch break is provided.
- Employees are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from the facility.
- The position offers opportunities for advancement through different structural fitter classifications based on experience and quality of work.
