Job Description
Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for an Aircraft Cabin Installer to join our Manufacturing Department based in Mobile, AL.
Position SummaryMain responsibility is the cabin furnishing of the aircraft for the final assembly line, focusing on cabin equipment, floor covering, cockpit, cargo and doors.
Primary Responsibilities- Assembly of interior furnishing and equipping parts, including cockpit, doors, galleys, toilets and floor covering.
- Installation and testing of electrical units and components.
- Inspect work of other team members and complete systems before customer acceptance.
- Install and manufacture of components and parts (marking, connecting, assembling, bundling, painting, fitting, torquing, bonding, attaching, disassembling, positioning and repairs).
- Determine ways to eliminate disruptions and rework.
- Perform presentations to the customer.
- Maintain legible and accurate documentation as required.
- Follow safe work practices and use/wear prescribed personal protective equipment for specific tasks.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to successfully complete health & safety, general aircraft familiarization, and quality trainings provided by Airbus after recruitment.
- Training from a vocational school or previous employer in application tools and techniques.
- Completion of a technology certification or training program from a post‑secondary institution or previous employer with documentation.
- 2 years minimum experience in aviation production or equivalent (shipbuilding, heavy machinery, automotive manufacturing, military aviation, MRO).
- Previous hands‑on experience with drilling tools, templates, drilling machines, fasteners, and torqueing tools.
- 5+ years minimum experience in aviation production or equivalent.
- 5% international and domestic.
- Authorized to work in the US.
- Knowledge of station safety, quality (clean as you go/FOD), and OSHA regulations.
- Blueprint reading – ability to build a product solely from complex engineering drawings or schematics.
- Precision measurement – proficiency with calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and dial indicators.
- Torque specifications – understanding of bolts tightened to a specific number.
- Standard operating procedures (SOPs) – experience following a written “recipe” for assembly.
- Documentation – experience signing off, logging parts, or tracking lot numbers for quality control.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to enter, generate, and retrieve information using a computer (SAP and Excel knowledge required).
- Vision adequate to enter and read material on computer screens and for greeting/description interactions.
- Hearing sufficient for conversation in office settings and safety alerts.
- Speaking sufficient for conversations in person and electronic communication.
- Equipment operation – ability to operate hydraulic lifts and arms.
- Carrying – occasionally carry up to 20lbs (9kg) during training, production issues or improvement projects.
- Lifting – occasionally lift up to 30lbs (14kg).
- Pushing/Pulling – ability to push/pull items on shop floor and office areas.
- Sitting – able to sit for extended periods at computer and in meetings.
- Squatting/Kneeling – occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items on lower shelves.
- Standing – able to stand for extended periods delivering information.
- Travel/Mobility – able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods and on short notice.
- Work in variable environments – outside hangars, movable lifts at ~40 ft height, confined spaces, and entry through a 9.8in × 17.7in oval opening.
- Walking – able to walk through office and production areas, flight lines, and uneven surfaces.
