PurposeTransports, performs setup and operational support for industrial cleaning services. Trained to operate, maintain, and repair high-pressure water blasting equipment and industrial vacuuming equipment necessary to perform the safe and proper removal, containment, transportation, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials within heavy industrial settings. Additionally, operators are knowledgeable and capable of performing general labor activities associated with industrial cleaning.
Essential Functions- Assumes total responsibility for the safe operation of all required equipment.
- Responsible for pre‑post trip inspections.
- Performs wet and dry vacuum truck operation & functions.
- Performs hydroblasting services, including advanced lance/shotgun operation.
- Performs hydraulic pump operations.
- Performs jetter truck operations.
- Load and unload equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Performs manual tasks and assists co‑workers.
- Performs general maintenance tasks to keep machinery, equipment, and tools in operable condition.
- Clean vehicles, trucks, and equipment.
- Performs safety procedures, including lock‑out tag‑out, confined space entry, housekeeping, and company‑specific procedures.
- Reports potential issues or concerns to Industrial Manager/Branch Manager.
- Ensures tasks are performed safely with the highest level of quality and integrity.
- Arrives at office or jobsite on time and ready to work.
- Adheres to company policies.
- Wears and properly uses personal protective equipment (PPE). Includes multiple combinations of respirators, skin, face, hand, and foot protection.
- Works when scheduled and complies with the company attendance policy.
- Attends all safety and health training, as required.
- Travel is required, sometimes for long periods, to perform this work.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Assist in other areas as needed, including shop, parts, inventory, and municipal.
- Ability to communicate effectively and negotiate with crew and division personnel of all backgrounds.
- Ability to physically control industrial hydro‑blasting and vacuum equipment.
- Ability to perform work in and around confined spaces and at elevated heights.
- Ability to enter confined spaces (close quarters, crawl spaces, manholes, etc.) which could cause claustrophobia.
- Safety‑first, positive attitude and teamwork.
- Apply knowledge to formulate positive solutions to problem situations.
- Read, write, and communicate in English effectively.
- Work well under pressure.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Adaptability to change with short notice.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures while maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.
- Must complete all pre‑ and post‑training, including safety, new‑hire, and regulatory.
- Must complete all required safety‑related training: TWIC, 10‑Hour OSHA, confined space, confined space entry, hazardous materials emergency response, breathing air equipment training and fit test, aerial lift training, lock‑out tag‑out, heat stress, MSHA, defensive driving, hazard communications, and H2S.
- One year of technician experience is required.
- Must have reliable transportation and a means of communication.
- Must pass a drug test, background check, and motor vehicle check.
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license and required.
- Work conditions: industrial setting, outdoors, exposure to extreme temperatures and elements, noisy conditions, exposure to hazardous chemicals.
- Physical conditions:
capable of lifting 75‑100 pounds, standing, walking, climbing, pushing/pulling, squatting/kneeling, substantial wrist, hand, and finger motions; able to see within normal range with or without corrective lenses.
