Shifts
  • First shift – Mon‑Fri 5:30 am–2:00 pm
  • Second shift – Mon‑Fri 1:30 pm–10:00 pm
  • Third shift – Sun‑Thu 10:00 pm–6:30 am
Position Summary

Machinist will work in the Machine Shop, set up and operate Computer Numerical Control (CNC) production equipment as well as manual shop equipment (milling machines and lathes). This employee will work with minimum supervision fabricating aerospace parts.

Primary Responsibilities – Manufacturing Parts
  • Perform all aspects of machining to include setup and operation of equipment such as 3‑axis and 5‑axis CNC mills, lathes, routers, lasers, and manual milling machines; program using Catia or better.
  • Read and write g‑code using CAM software as the machine controller.
  • Produce quality products in a timely manner using specifications and documents.
  • Maintain a demanding level of quality while working on aerospace materials such as aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and other alloys.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering plans, and specifications; interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Use ISO‑compliant documentation and processes to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup.
  • Use various measuring techniques to validate conformance to requirements.
  • Know tooling, tool setting, offsetting, work offsets, and basic inspections.
  • Start and observe machine operations to detect malfunctions or out‑of‑tolerance machining and adjust machine controls.
  • Verify conformance of finished first‑article work pieces to specifications and conduct subsequent inspections in accordance with the shop’s statistical process control (SPC).
  • Use hand deburr tools.
  • Consult with lead person, machine shop supervisor, or others to resolve machining issues.
  • Adhere to all safety and security requirements.
  • Interface effectively with Engineers and Quality; communicate good written and verbal communication.
Primary Responsibilities – CNC Programming
  • Code programs for new parts that enter the shop.
  • Create and correct DXF and GNH files in EnRoute or Gravostyle software systems.
  • Create instructions for setups.
  • Review CAD design blueprints.
  • Establish sequencing of cuts for each job.
  • Select cutting tools for each job.
Primary Responsibilities – Sheet Metal Installation
  • Read detailed plans and diagrams; inspect and measure parts prior to assembly, ensuring parts are defect‑free.
  • Cut, grind, or trim parts to fit.
  • Follow Engineering instructions and company standards.
  • Make adjustments or replace parts as required.
  • Assist in developing patterns or templates to simplify manufacturing processes and ensure proper fit.
  • Cut, file, drill, and ream metal, plastic, and rubber sections.
Additional Responsibilities – Other Duties (15%)
  • Use SAP for time charging and manage personal time bank (PTB) and vacation (VAC) time.
  • Mark part bag and tag, and complete work orders.
Qualifications Education
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Trade school certification
Experience
  • Two (2) – Five (5)+ years of working in a machine/fabrication shop.
  • Two (2) – Five (5)+ years of experience in aerospace (or a related/transferrable field).
Knowledge, Skills & Demonstrated Capabilities
  • Ability to write code for CNC programming (create and correct DXF and GNH files) from drawings.
  • Knowledge of blueprint drawing tolerance.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and written work.
  • Effective interfacing with Engineers and Quality.
  • Use of hand deburr tools.
  • Aviation sheet metal work experience.
Communication Skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
Technical Systems Proficiency
  • Intermediate computer skills including use of AutoCAD, EnRoute, Gravostyle, Word, Excel.
Travel Required
  • Less than 10% domestic and international travel.
