Mechanical Maintenance Manager Steelmaking Operations | Gulf Coast Region

A leading global manufacturer in the metals industry is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Manager to oversee maintenance operations within a highly advanced steelmaking facility located along the Gulf Coast. The ideal candidate will lead maintenance operations supporting key steelmaking areas including material handling systems, continuous casting, ladle metallurgy, degassing operations, and laboratory support systems. This role will provide leadership to maintenance teams while driving safety, reliability, productivity, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead mechanical maintenance operations for a large-scale steelmaking facility
• Manage safety, environmental, quality, and production performance for the maintenance team
• Oversee maintenance planning, scheduling, workforce development, and contractor performance
• Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for equipment and operational issues
• Partner cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and production teams
• Manage maintenance budgets, inventory levels, and KPI performance
• Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives across the operation

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required;
  Bachelor's degree preferred
• 5+ years of leadership experience within steelmaking maintenance operations
• Strong technical knowledge of steelmaking mechanical systems and equipment
• Experience leading teams in heavy industrial or manufacturing environments
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
• SAP and Microsoft Office proficiency preferred

Preferred Experience:

• Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) operations
• Continuous Casting systems
• Ladle Metallurgy Furnace (LMF)
• RH Degassing systems
• Raw material handling systems and emissions systems
